So did you think that there would be a major shake-up following Yoichi Wada’s resignation as CEO and President of Square-Enix? Well, yes and no. Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn producer and director Naoki Yoshida has already stated for his part that “our development policy, development attitude and development structure won’t be affected at all”.

Taking to the official Japanese Lodestone forums, he also added that, “Our policies haven’t changed at all, and we’re pushing forward to the launch of the new game backed by the support of the whole company. Actually our sense of responsibility towards the rebirth of Final Fantasy XIV is strengthened.

“As producer and director I’m determined and prepared for it and I’m working hard to deliver the best game I can. Please don’t worry.”

It’s nice to see this kind of reassurance…but only if you forget that the amount of money and resources poured into FFXIV is the reason why Square Enix is facing such heavy losses.
