Octopath Traveler

With July now behind us, Nintendo has released the list of the 30 most downloaded games on the Nintendo eShop on the Switch for the month, via the console’s Newsfeed service. And to what will probably be the surprise of absolutely no one, Fortnite ended up topping the charts, holding its own against even Octopath Traveler, which came in at second place.

Octopath, of course, is doing as great as it is because of the acute shortages it was plagued by, which doubtless drove many to buy a digital copy of it instead. The fantastic and superlative Hollow Knight, meanwhile, is in third place. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which launched last year, is in seventh place, ahead of even games like Super Mario Odyssey or Mario Kart 8 Deluxe– indicating, yet again, the long term tail the game is exhibiting.

The most heartening thing in this list is just how many third party games are on there, and how great they seem to be doing- the Switch seems to be a very healthy ecosystem for third parties. You can check out the full list below.
