fortnite chapter 2

Epic Games is known for taking risks with its free to play Fortnite Battle Royale, like plunging everything into a black hole as an excuse to add a new map. However, the new Weapon Sidegrading feature – which is currently live – should be familiar to some battle royale fans. Check it out in the trailer below.

Essentially there are Upgrade Stations to be found on the map. Depending on the materials and upgrade, you can take your Epic SCAR to Legendary tier or change it into a Heavy Assault Rifle. This isn’t too different from what the likes of Realm Royale have done but it’s nice to see the feature brought into Fortnite.

It’s hard to say what’s coming next for the battle royale title. It was one of the top digital earners of last year and Season 1 of Chapter 2 is slated to come to a close next month. Stay tuned for more details on new features and skins in the coming weeks.
