Epic Games has announced a new Creative Mode for Fortnite, which goes live on December 6th for Battle Pass owners. It’s the same day that Season 7 goes live, and brings new cosmetics, Battle Pass challenges, and major map changes. Creative Mode will go live on December 13th for all players, even if they don’t own the Battle Pass.
So what’s the big deal with Creative Mode? It essentially provides a private island to every player. They can use this however they please, from creating entire game modes to custom races and lots of building. You can play alongside your friends, or simply invite other players to check out your island.
Epic Games has stated that the mode will be added upon over time, and receive continuous improvements, so don’t take this as the final incarnation just yet. On Twitter, creative director Donald Mustard noted that the goal was to let players build their own Fortnite. “Fortnite Creative is a labor of love for all of us at Epic. As passionate game creators our ultimate goal is for YOU to be able to build your own ‘Fortnite’. This is another step towards that.”
Interestingly, it seems that Fortnite Creative is not what Epic Games was hyping for The Game Awards. The ceremony goes live on December 6th at 5:30 PM PST, so it should be interesting to see what’s coming next.
Fortnite Creative is super early and rough. But it’s a great start. And I cannot wait to see what you make.
Like the rest of Fortnite, expect rapid iteration and updates as we refine and add and build for years to come.
