Fortnite Success Sees Epic Games’ Net Worth Climb To $8 Billion

Epic must thank its lucky stars every day that they decided to pivot Fortnite into being a free to play battle royale game.

Fortnite Battle Royale

Fortnite is currently the most popular game in the world, earning Epic over $2 million a day on mobile platforms alone (to say nothing of the console and PC versions). Naturally, this has been very good for Epic’s overall financial health, with a recent report by Bloomberg placing the company’s net worth to be up to an eye watering $8 billion.

What makes this figure so impressive is that it is largely achieved on the back of just one game. While Epic also creates the most popular and commonly used third party engine in the industry with Unreal Engine 4, it has been Fortnite‘s success that has propelled Epic to these dizzying heights, with Fortnite alone projected to make Epic $2 billion this year.

The success of Fortnite has made Bloomberg assess Epic’s worth to be between $5 billion and $8 billion- and I don’t think anyone will sneeze if you say it’s on the higher end of that range, either. I also think that, as long as Epic’s fantastic support for Fortnite and their quick responsiveness to fan feedback continues, the game will continue to be a monster for them. Right now, it’s not even available on Android!

Fortnite is out now on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, and iOS.
