Forza Motorsport had a fairly muted presence at the recent Xbox Games Showcase, with a brief trailer highlighting the game’s cover cars and revealing the racing sim’s October launch date. Developer Turn 1- Studios did, however, previously confirm that it would be revealing extensive new details on the game’s career mode with an upcoming demo- which is now here in a lengthy new gameplay video that shows stunning 4K/60 FPS gameplay.

Unsurprisingly, Forza Motorsport is being designed around the series’ love of cars, with Turn 10 Studios emphasizing the game’s new “level, build, dominate” loop, which will encompass encompass finding a car you like, customizing and upgrading it the way you see fit, and then using it on the track and try and win the races you’re competing in.

The game’s career mode, called Builders Cup, will see direct releases for new cars and tracks, a first for the series, with Turn 10 looking to emulate the ever-changing landscape of the automobile world. As such, a stream of new content will bring about consistent shifts and changes in the Builders Cup. Meanwhile, players will be able to participate in multiple racing series, which will task you with taking a car, leveling it, building it, and going all the way to the end of that series.

Every event in the Builders Cup will also feature an Open Practice session, which is a where you can drive freely to test the limits of your car and judge how it’ll perform on that particular track. Meanwhile, progression mechanics will come in the form of the Car Mastery system. Every time you make a corner, the game will time you against yourself, on the basis of which you’ll also be given Car XP, which means your car will now level up in real time, corner-by-corner.

There’s also the new Challenge the Grid system, which will allow you to tinker with various parameters – including your starting place, AI difficulty, and more – for higher or lower payouts at the end of the race (depending on what changes you’ve made to said parameters).

Coming to the racing itself, Turn 10 says it has made “big advancements” to the AI Drivatar technology, thanks to which opponents will now be much faster, and without the use of any cheats or hacks. Improvements have also been made to the physics, as well as the suspension, weight, and aero modelling.

After finishing every event in the Builders Cup, players will also be able to equip their car with any new upgrades they’ve unlocked, which will be done on a new car building screen. Turn 10 says Forza Motorsport is putting a renewed focus on building cars rather than buying them, which means customizing and building your vehicles is going to be a core component of the experience.

Forza Motorsport launches on October 10 for Xbox Series X/S and PC. Microsoft has also revealed a Premium Edition for the game, which will grant five days of early access.
