The Coalition has been the subject of many discussions over the past few months, whether it’s assisting 343 Industries in Halo Infinite’s development or reportedly working on Gears 6 (and a possible new IP). In an official update, the developer announced that it would be developing on Unreal Engine 5 for “multiple new projects in the coming years.” This will be the second Xbox Game Studios team to make the shift to the engine after Ninja Theory with Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2.

However, fans shouldn’t expect to hear about these new projects any time soon. “Shifting to a new engine is a big undertaking, so we want to be clear that we will not be announcing any new projects or titles for some time.” This seems to line up with the rumor of Gears 6 not being revealed at E3 2021.

In the meantime, the Coalition seeks “more exceptional professionals” and will show fans what it’s been working on “when the time is right.” Gears 5 will continue to receive support as well with two new Operations coming up. Operations 7 and 8 will add new characters, maps and events while the in-game store will be updated as well. Featured playlists are also on the way.

More details on these Operations may be revealed next month when E3 2021 rolls around so stay tuned for more information.
