The Coalition revealed Gears 5’s Horde mode to the world at Inside Xbox, revealing a number of changes that would be coming. However, it’s still the same wave-based, PvE survival mode that’s influenced a number of releases over the years. New gameplay has emerged courtesy of Gamersyde to illustrate this.

Of course, we do see some of the changes in action like upgrading Skills each round using Power. For instance, Kait can opt for increased max HP, increased health regeneration, more movement speed and shotgun damage. Depending on the cards used to build characters, they’ll each have different Skills to improve.

Characters in Horde also have Ultimates which can be triggered by building up Power. Kait can turn invisible and execute foes undetected; JD Fenix calls in an airstrike; and so on. The gameplay below also showcases one of the boss waves in Horde – a fight with a Carrier. Gears 5 is out on September 10th for Xbox One and Windows 10 PC. Stay tuned for more details.
