As the first console exclusive ever announced for the PS5, Counterplay Games’ Godfall has some expectations riding on it. The looter/slasher received a new gameplay video during Sony’s State of Play, highlighting the combat and weapon classes. It’s an in-development build running on a PS5 dev kit but still looks good.

As game director Keith Lee describes, the development team is trying to strike the right balance between loot and player skill. This means that you’ll find incredible gear along your journey but combat will also depend a lot on your own competence. Lee further reiterated that all of the loot and content would be available at launch, making for a complete experience.

The video also highlighted the different weapon types – the Longsword, Dual Blades, Polearm, Warhammer and Greatsword. Each class features its own unique move sets and play styles along with primary and secondary traits. Weapons can also be modified though this will be outlined at a later date.

Godfall is out this holiday season for PS5 and PC. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.
