Gran Turismo 7

It’s been a rough week for Gran Turismo 7 players, first with update 1.07 nerfing Credit pay-outs from several races. Servers also went offline for over 30 hours due to an issue with the update. While series producer Kazunori Yamauchi issued a statement on vehicle prices but did little to assuage concerns about the grind and push to buy Credits through microtransactions.

As it turns out though, changes are coming sooner than expected. In a recent PlayStation Blog article, Yamauchi apologized for the “frustration and confusion caused last week with our patch updates.” “We know that this is not the Gran Turismo experience you expect and we will be making a goodwill gesture in the form of a non-paid credit pack of 1 million Cr. available to those players who may have been affected. You will see this hit your accounts shortly.” Players must login before April 25th to claim the same.

That’s not all though – another patch is coming in the beginning of April which makes the following changes:

  • Increase rewards in the events in the latter half of the World Circuits by approximately 100 percent on average.
  • Addition of high rewards for clearing the Circuit Experience in all Gold/All Bronze results.
  • Increase of rewards in Online Races.
  • Include a total of eight new one-hour Endurance Race events to Missions. These will also have higher reward settings.
  • Increase the upper limit of non-paid credits in player wallets from 20M Cr. to 100M Cr.
  • Increase the quantity of Used and Legend cars on offer at any given time.

A few more patches will also be rolled out from now till April end which adds new cars, course layouts and “other fixes.” Future updates will seek to increase the payout of limited-time rewards; provide more World Circuit events and Endurance Races (including 24-hour variants); add Online Time Trials which will provide rewards “according to the player’s difference with the top ranked time”; and yes, allow cars to be sold, just like in previous games. There’s no ETA on these updates so stay tuned for more details in the coming months.

Gran Turismo 7 is currently available for PS4 and PS5. Check out our review of the base game here.
