Grand Theft Auto 6 Delay Rumor Debunked

Following rumors of a delay to 2026, Bloomberg's Jason Schreier spoke to six Rockstar employees who denied hearing of the same.

Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto 6 is still far off, launching next year for Xbox Series X/S and PS5. Neither Rockstar nor Take-Two Interactive has indicated otherwise, but a rumor began circulating that the open-world title was delayed internally to 2026.

Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier addressed the same on Twitter, noting that he spoke to six Rockstar employees who had not heard of a delay. Of course, there is a caveat. “It’s a big, ambitious game and could very well slip! Too much time left to say anything definitive.”

Of course, it’s always possible that the studio’s higher-ups could have planned for the same without informing anyone. Since there’s been no internal announcement, Schreier noted the latest rumor to be “nonsense.” Long story short, until Rockstar Games officially announces a delay for Grand Theft Auto 6, you can still expect it in Fall 2025.

For what it’s worth, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick previously said both the developer and parent company are “highly confident” in the current launch window. PC players may need to wait longer – head here for more details.
