Grand Theft Auto 6 on PC – Rockstar Will “Make More Announcements in Due Time”

"Rockstar has an approach to platforms which we’ve seen before, and they will make more announcements in due time," says Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick.

Rockstar Games has traditionally not released its new, flagship titles for PC day and date with consoles, with the likes of Grand Theft Auto 4, Grand Theft Auto 5, and Red Dead Redemption 2 all having seen belated releases on PC (and the original Red Dead Redemption still not having released for the platform at all). Regardless, some had hoped that the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6 would, at the very least, see a simultaneous release on PC as well, only for Rockstar to confirm at the time of the game’s announcement in December that, once again, that wasn’t going to happen.

So what exactly does that mean for Rockstar’s PC plans for the game, and when can we expect to get an announcement regarding the same? Rockstar parent company Take-Two Interactive CEO’s Strauss Zelnick was recently asked the same in an interview a TD Cowen conference, to which his response was that the lack of a PC version announcement for the game right now doesn’t necessarily mean there isn’t going to be one at some point in the future.

“The lack of an announcement is not something that could be set in stone as near as I could tell, because the only thing that happens after the lack of an announcement is an announcement, I suppose, or a continuing lack of an announcement, I guess that could happen too,” Zelnick said (transcription via VGC). “It doesn’t seem to me that either would be set in stone.

“But Rockstar has an approach to platforms which we’ve seen before, and they will make more announcements in due time. I do believe that the right strategy for our business is to be where the consumer is, and historically what this company has done is address consumers anywhere they are, on any platform that makes sense, over time.”

Grand Theft Auto 6 is scheduled to release for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in fall 2025GTA 5 launched for PC roughly a year and a half after its original release, while Red Dead Redemption 2 came to the platform a little over a year after its launch, which would suggest that PC players are going to have to wait until late 2026 to get their hands on GTA 6 at the very least.
