With Grand Theft Auto 6’s May 26, 2026 release date slowly inching closer, fan speculation about the upcoming title has been running wild. Fans on GTAForums have now discovered a number of website domains for fake-sounding companies have been registered earlier this year under Take-Two Interactive’s nameservers. These domain names indicate what kind of satire of the real world we might get to see in GTA 6 when the title is finally out.

Some of the domains discovered by fans are what-up.app, rydeme.app, leonidagov.org, brianandbradley.com, and wipeoutcornskin.com, among others. The three domains with .app suffixes would indicate that they might be smartphone apps that players can access in-game, and likely serve as parodies of WhatsApp and Uber/Lyft. Fans are also speculating that one of the in-game websites might also be parodies of Patreon.

The other websites, on the other hand, might end up having more to do with the game’s story. For instance, leonidagov.org is quite likely a government website, since Grand Theft Auto 6 will take place in Vice City and the surrounding area of the state of Leonida. Since Vice City has essentially acted as the GTA universe’s version of Miami, Leonida is likely set to be equivalent to the state of Florida.

The Grand Theft Auto series has had its own in-universe version of the Internet that players could surf since the release of Grand Theft Auto 4 back in 2008. At the time, however, players would need to visit an Internet cafe to surf the web. The release of Grand Theft Auto 5 in 2013 brought the series more up to modern times, giving the three protagonists smartphones that could be used to browse the web at any given moment.

Among the things that players have traditionally been able to do through the in-game rendition of the Internet throughout the GTA titles include setting up dates through a dating website, buying cars online, and even taking part in the stock exchange by buying and selling company shares. Some of these activities have also been tied with missions in the games. The dating website, for example, could be used in GTA 4 to flush out a serial killer that has been finding victims through online dating.

The vast majority of the in-universe media in GTA 4 and 5 have largely revolved around satirising the real world, however. GTA 5, for instance, included a website for a cult that players could even visit the compound of.

As for how the system will evolve for the upcoming GTA 6, we might likely end up seeing an in-universe version of TikTok or Instagram alongside the other websites listed here, considering the dominance of social media in the real world. Developer Rockstar Games also has a history of creating fresh media, including stage shows, stand-up comedy routines, and even animated shows, for the Grand Theft Auto games.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is being developed for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. If Rockstar Games sticks to series tradition, it will also eventually make its way on to PC in the future.
