Along with having confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 6 pre-orders will begin later this month, Rockstar Games has also sneakily updated its official website. As part of this update, a brand-new video has been embedded, showing up as part of a smooth transition down from the GTA 6 cover art to other details about the game.
The video gives us an aerial look at Vice City as the sun sets behind it with a twilight wash over the sky. While we don’t get any on-the-ground shots, we do get to spot some buildings that players might recognize in the real-world city of Miami, or even from the 2002 title Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, since some of the larger buildings seem to be making a comeback.
We also get a sense of just how large the Vice City of Grand Theft Auto 6 will be, since the city skyline seems to stretch away in the background for quite a distance. Looking to the left of the skyscrapers also shows shorter buildings that seem to take up quite a bit of space as well. Along with this, the bright lights of Vice City indicates that we might get to engage in the city’s night-time culture, with a Ferris wheel visible in the distance, as well as an expansive marina in the bay.
Fans of the Grand Theft Auto franchise have shown quite a bit of excitement for this new fly-by video, since this also gives new resources to members of the community that have already begun mapping out the in-game city. How much they will be able to manage through just this clip and the two trailers we’ve seen previously, however, remains to be seen, and the map will likely only become truly accurate once the game comes out on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19th.
While few details have been revealed about the story of Grand Theft Auto 6, Rockstar Games has confirmed that it will revolve around two protagonists – Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. The plot will seemingly revolve around an easy score going wrong, which ends up with the duo finding themselves mingling with the more unsavory elements of Vice City. To make things more complicated, they also end up being embroiled in a criminal conspiracy that seemingly stretches across the entire state of Leonida.
Among the locations from the state of Leonida that will show up in Grand Theft Auto 6 are Vice City itself, the Leonida Keys, the Grassrivers, Port Hellhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Kalaga National Park. These locations will be where players get to meet and hang out with a number of different characters, like Brian Heder, Raul Bautista, and musical duo Real Dimez, among others.
If you’re worried about not having enough time to play Grand Theft Auto 6 due to real-world responsibilities, CEO of parent company Take-Two Interactive, Strauss Zelnick, says you have nothing to fear. “I don’t think there’s any risk of being like, ‘All right, yeah, if I didn’t play five or four or three or two or one, I’m not showing up.’ I think we’ll be able to engage every appropriate individual in GTA 6,” he said back in March.
