Rockstar Games is currrently committed to Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online, as exemplified in recent patches that both components received. However, it’s still churning out updates for Grand Theft Auto Online, the multiplayer component to Grand Theft Auto 5. The latest update, “Arena War”, brings a new competitive mode for players to tear each other apart in.

As per Rockstar’s announcement, Arena War is “where ruthless gladiatorial combat meets the bleeding-edge of vehicular modification technology in one spectacular – and highly combustible – competition.” Players will travel to the Maze Bank Arena and take on other players, presumably to the death. It brings new vehicle types and seven new modes to the game. Playing Arena War will net you points, which can be used to rank up.

Rank up enough times and new “toys” will be unlocked. If the attached image is any indication, players could be looking at Mad Max-style vehicular showdowns and carnage. The update is out later today for Xbox One, PS4, and PC, so keep an eye out for patch notes.
