Arrowhead Game Studios has announced the next major update coming to Helldivers 2 on September 2nd – Into the Unjust. The Terminids hog the spotlight this time around as, after an attack on Super Earth’s major cities, players venture to their Hive Worlds for revenge.
Unlike other Terminid planets, these worlds are completely terraformed with enormous cave networks spread throughout. Players must travel deep within, battling within claustrophobic environments without the constant aid of the Super Destroyer. If you want to call down ammo, then you need to find an opening in the roof.
Some sections are also darker, meaning one player could use a flashlight while the others rely on Support weapons. Two Hive World-exclusive missions launch with Into the Unjust: Hive Lung, which is what the Terminids are using to produce the Gloom, and Mobile Oil Rig, a big oil drill that players drive around to farm oil from the Hive World (which must be defended).
Several Terminids are also getting subterranean variants. The Warrior Terminid burrows underground and emerges to attack, while the Bile Spewer fires a few projectiles and retreats underground to reposition. There’s also the Dragon Roach, a Bile Titan-class foe with acid breath whose wings must be destroyed. Arrowhead also teased the arrival of what seem to be sand worms down the line.
