Last week’s UK physical charts from Gfk saw Mario vs. Donkey Kong take the top spot while Skull and Bones disappointed (despite debuting in fourth). GamesIndustry head Christopher Dring has now reported on Twitter that, in the latest weekly charts, the former dropped to third due to a 62 percent sales decrease while the latter fell to 16th due to a 68 percent drop. However, there’s the curious case of Helldivers 2.
Arrowhead Game Studios’ third-person co-op shooter, launched on February 8th for PS5 and PC, currently ranks fourth, with sales up by 20 percent. It marks the second week sales have gone up, which Dring notes is “very rare”, with Just Dance having a similar pattern. For a title about dropping on alien planets and delivering democracy via explosive payload, it’s pretty good.
We’ll find out how it performed in the region overall when digital sales data arrives. Sony hasn’t revealed sales numbers, though CEO Johan Pilestedt hinted at it reaching nearly three million units sold. Stay tuned for more updates, and check out our review for Helldivers 2.
In the UK physical charts, Helldivers 2 is now up to No.4 with sales up 20% in its third week. That’s 2 consecutive weeks of rises (which is very rare). Mario vs Donkey Kong down to No.3 with a (more ordinary) 62% sales drop. Skull and Bones down to No.16 (-68% w-o-w)
