3. A revamped engine
Sometimes a new lick of paint goes a long way. The Hitman engine we know and love hasn’t seen any major changes since Hitman 2 back in 2002, so a new engine would be in order. Most of the subsequent games in the series got away with adding little to the game’s core mechanics, simply by having a plethora of creative and inspired levels. Whilst Hitman Absolution will certainly need this same level of creativity, it will definitely need to alter the engine on account of how long it has been in the works.
2. Genuine spectacle
Blood Money was by far the best game in the Hitman series. One of the things that truly helped it stand out was its sheer spectacle. The set pieces were awesome, varied and massive. Who doesn’t remember the Opera level and the assassination at the Mardi Gras fair? Absolution will easily be the best Hitman game yet, as long as it can correct and tweak minor issues of previous instalments whilst retaining the fantastic quality of set-pieces seen in Blood Money.
1. No compromise
A lot of games have seen the addition of more ‘standard’ features as of late. Various franchises that were once slow and methodical are now at a faster and more rushed paced. Single player games have seen a variety of multiplayer modes shoe-horned in. Not all of these instances are cases of games being ruined as, sometimes these changes really work. In the case of Hitman though, these changes would not help. Hitman is a unique franchise that needs to hold on to what makes it special. There is always pressure to adhere to more popular mechanics and trends, but Hitman Absolution needs to stay resolute to retain its unique charm.
