Horizon: Zero Dawn Has Not Been Downgraded, Contrary To Reports

No downgrade except for what you want to see.

Horizon: Zero Dawn

Recently, some comparisons have been doing the rounds on social media, showcasing what appears to be a rather significant downgrade in the graphics of Sony’s upcoming flagship exclusive. This threatened to spark off a controversy, since this generation has been full of notable examples of games over-promising and under-delivering on graphical capability- including Guerrilla Games themselves with Killzone Shadow Fall.

However, with Horizon, it as a false alarm. Responding to the allegations of a downgrade, Guerrilla Games explained on Twitter that both the videos in the comparison demonstrating the alleged downgrade ‘are captured from the same build; one running in English and the other in Chinese.’ This means that there is literally no downgrade beyond what you want to see.

So, that should put all of that speculation to rest. With Horizon, anyway, it will probably be more about how the game plays than how it looks- and it looks like it will play very, very well.
