Horizon: Zero Dawn New Update Improved The Game’s Water Shaders

A small but appreciated fix.

Guerrilla Games has released a brand new update for their hit open world action RPG from earlier this year, Horizon: Zero Dawn. The new update managed to sneak in something that might not have been apparent to most players right away- but once it was, it would be hard to miss.

You see, Guerrilla have gone ahead and improved the game’s water shaders. The game originally had some pretty beautiful looking water, but it also had issues with how the water absolutely did not react to Aloy if she ever got into it- which could be immersion breaking. Now, the water does react visibly and realistically to the displacement of mass that would occur when Aloy would get into it. It’s a small, but nice and appreciated, touch.

Horizon: Zero Dawn is available now exclusively on the PS4. If you have finished the game already, you have the upcoming expansion The Frozen Wilds to look forward to on November 7.
