It should make an already gorgeous game even more impressive.

Horizon: Zero Dawn, the newest game from Killzone developer Guerrilla Games, looks seriously impressive. It is an open world RPG, with a far bigger scale than any of the Killzone games that came so far, and yet, amazingly, it maintains the studio’s reputation for visual excellence.

The final game will look even better than the previews so far do. A lot of this will have to do with the dynamic weather system that will be in the final game, and which is currently being worked on. In their SIGGRAPH 2015 presentation, Guerrilla Games revealed that they are still working on an “atmospheric model” and “weather system” for the game- and they should have more information about these to share in the future.

We all know just how impressive weather effects can make a game look – just look at titles such as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, DriveClub, or Forza Motorsport 6 for proof – so it is good to know that they will factor into Horizon: Zero Dawn too.

Horizon is slated to launch for the PlayStation 4 some time next year. Stay tuned.
