Those who regularly played Housemarque’s games always held the studio up in high regard, but with Returnal, the Finnish developer became a much more widely known quantity, especially now that it has officially become a first-party PlayStation studio. And though an official announcement on what exactly it’s working on next remains elusive for now, some brief details on the developer’s next project may have emerged nonetheless.

A job listing for the position of Senior Game Designer published by Housemarque on LinkedIn states that the studio is currently working on a AAA action game, while proficiency with Unreal Engine being mentioned as a requirement for applicants suggests that that’s the engine that the game is being developed on, same as Returnal. The job listing also mentions expertise with level design, enemy design, and boss design as requirements, suggesting that the project will have at least something in common with the studio’s previous PS5 outing.

It was revealed back in 2022 that Housemarque’s next game was going to be another new IP. In November last year, Returnal director Harry Krueger announced that he was leaving the studio after nearly 15 years at the company.
