Insomniac’s Multiplayer PS5 Game Could Seemingly be a New IP, as Per Job Ad

Insomniac Games is known to be working on a multiplayer title for the PS5, but it is yet to be officially unveiled.

Insomniac Games has to be one of the busiest first party PlayStation studios right now, and coming off the back of an exceptionally packed period for the studio, it’s now currently working on not only Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Marvel’s Wolverine, but also a currently unannounced multiplayer game for the PS5. The studio has, of late, been staffing up for the project, and interestingly enough, a  job ad may have revealed an important detail about it.

A listing for the position of Art Director for the multiplayer project (based on its mention of “art direction within a multiplayer environment”) seems to suggest that the game going to be a new IP, with one of the duties of the applicant for the role being to assist in “pre-production planning and new IP development with creative directors.”

Now, past rumours have indicated that Insomniac’s multiplayer game is going to be yet another Marvel title– and this new information doesn’t necessarily conflict with that. A new Marvel property with an original universe and story similar to Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Wolverine would technically be a new IP for Insomniac- though there’s enough room for doubt there to make it hard to be entirely sure about that.

Of course, given the fact that the developer has plenty else on its plate for now, it’s likely going to be some time before we find out what this multiplayer game is going to be.
