It’ll Be A Long Time Before Playground Talks About Its Unannounced Open World Project

Don't hold your breath for the long-rumoured Fable 4 to be announced any time soon.

Given the fact that Playground Games has only been improving with each successive game they’ve made over the last few years, there’s been a lot of excitement surrounding their unannounced open world project. Add to that the fact that rumours have heavily indicated that the project could be Fable 4, and the excitement increases manifold. However, don’t hold your breath for an announcement of the project any time soon.

According to Playground’s chief creative director Ralph Fulton, Playground’s second studio, where the project in question is under development (or some form of production at any rate), is “growing” and “doing some great stuff already”, but they’re also enjoying the fact that at least for now, no one is really certain what it is they’re working on, and that at least for the foreseeable future, things are going to stay that way.

“The second studio is growing,” Fulton said while speaking with Full Throttle Media at the Forza Horizon 4 Goodwood launch celebration event. “It is I think revelling in the fact no one knows who they are, no one is looking at what they’re doing, they’re just bonding as a team, they’re doing some great stuff already, but it’ll be a long time before we talk about what they’re doing – and I think they’re enjoying that ability at the moment.”

So yeah, if you were expecting a Fable 4 announcement (or an announcement for whatever it is they’re working on), at Microsoft’s X018 event this month or at The Game Awards in December, you might want to keep those expectations in check. Judging by Fulton’s words and the timeframe they suggest, it sounds like Playground’s new game is slated as a game for Xbox Scarlett, or whatever Microsoft chooses to call the next Xbox.
