With Marvel Rivals’ launch approaching, NetEase Games has been ramping up the rollout of new information on the hero shooter, with the newest batch of details focused on its PS5 version, courtesy of an update published on the official PlayStation Blog.

Specifically, NetEase Games has revealed that on the base PS5, Marvel Rivals will run at a 1440p resolution while maintaining a 60 FPS frame rate by default.

“As a high-intensity multiplayer competitive game, smoothest performance has always been a top priority during development,” writes producer Stephen Wu. “Marvel Rivals maintains a stable 60 FPS at 1440p resolutions by utilizing Unreal Engine 5’s Lumen Global Illumination and Chaos Destruction technology. The combination of visuals and performance in Marvel Rivals is sure to deliver dynamic visual effects while you engage in epic superhero battles.”

Meanwhile, the game will also feature a High Frame Rate Mode, which will be able to output at 120 FPS- assuming, of course, that you have a screen that can support that.

What about the PS5 Pro, however? As a major upcoming title, as you might imagine, Marvel Rivals will indeed be enhanced for Sony’s mid-gen hardware upgrade. A new Pro mode will make use of PSSR to run at 4K and 60 FPS, while on the PS5 Pro, the game will also feature support for Lumen Reflections, which will allow for “more immersive and dynamic lighting effects for an enhanced visual experience.” A High Frame Rate Mode will be available for a 120 FPS option on PS5 Pro as well.

What we can expect from the game’s performance and resolution targets on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S remains to be seen, but presumably, the former will run the game similarly to the base PS5. Hopefully those details will be shared officially sooner rather than later.

Meanwhile, Sony’s console will also see Marvel Rivals making use of the DualSense controller’s features, to no one’s surprise. Wu writes, “Marvel Rivals brings an immersive superhero combat experience to players, by utilizing the adaptive triggers and haptic feedback technology of the PS5 DualSense wireless controller to deliver immersive sensations. Players will feel the changes in trigger tension and dynamic vibration when different heroes release skills, like the satisfying gunfire of the Punisher’s machine gun, the tension of Hawkeye’s bowstring, and the powerful punches of Hulk.”

On PS5, the hero shooter will also feature exclusive cosmetics- read more on that through here.

Marvel Rivals launches on December 6 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Check out its launch trailer, which reveals Wolverine, Black Widow, and more for its launch roster of 33 characters. That roster also includes recently-revealed characters like Squirrel Girl and the Iron Fist.
