Square Enix may have finally officially unveiled Marvel’s Avengers at E3 this year, but it’s only off late that we’ve started receiving tangible new information about the upcoming title. Just recently, in fact, the developers released a short new video that included the profile for Captain America, speaking about the First Avenger’s strengths and weaknesses. To go along with that, the game’s official Twitter account also shared some interesting new information on how he functions in combat.

With a mixture of abilities, signature moves, melee attacks, ranged attacks, and aerial attacks, Captain America’s combat style is, as per Lead Combat Designer Vince Napoli, “all about balance”. Napoli says that Cap has “the widest variety of options at his disposal” during combat, and his arsenal offers something for every situation, including parries, crowd control, counter-attacks, ranged attacks, and more.

Meanwhile, though Cap has a unique play-style and his own moves and combos and skills to unlock and upgrade, players can also use gear, upgrades, and perks to customize him to suit their own playstyle, and change his fighting style to match their needs.

It should be interesting to see how Cap functions as far as the co-op multiplayer side of the game is concerned, because if he really is as adept at tackling all sorts of situations as it seems, he might quickly become a fan-favourite.

Marvel’s Avengers is out on May 15, 2020 for the PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia. Check out its recent 20 minute-long gameplay demo through here.
