Tepid critical reception and a rapidly declining playerbase are issues that Marvel’s Avengers has to deal with in the here and now, but at least as far as its launch sales are concerned, the game has been a success for publishers Square Enix. Data from the NPD suggested strong sales for the game in the US in September, and now, a report by SuperData states that the game enjoyed solid digital sales across the world in its launch month as well.

As per the report, Marvel’s Avengers sold 2.2 million digital units across all of September, making it the second biggest digital launch for a Square Enix game to date (behind Final Fantasy 7 Remake), while sales are also more or less similar to Marvel’s Spider-Man when it launched in September 2018. However, digital launch sales for the superhero brawler are a bit lower than those of similar looter action RPGs such as The Division 2 and Destiny 2.

Marvel’s Avengers is currently available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It will release for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S some time in 2021.
