Firaxis recently confirmed the Season Pass characters for Marvel’s Midnight  Suns, specifically Deadpool, Venom, Morbius, and Storm. However, it also held a livestream showcasing more advanced combat mechanics for the turn-based card-battling RPG. It also provided our first look at the final member of the base roster – Robbie Reyes as the Ghost Rider.

As noted before, players start each battle with various cards for their three heroes. Each has different requirements, like Heroism costs, but you can also play cards to shove enemies into each other. Ghost Rider’s play style is intriguing because he can damage himself in exchange for the big area and single-target damage. It makes status effects like Wounded, where a hero takes damage after every action, more difficult to circumvent.

One mission sees Captain America, Ghost Rider, and Blade facing off against demonic foes, including the Guardian, which can create a protective barrier. There’s also the Dark Legion, who can clone the most powerful enemy on the map, including the Guardian and itself. If that weren’t enough, Sabretooth randomly appears to make life harder. Any of the Fallen can appear as reinforcements in any mission, so you need to stay on your toes.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns is out on December 2nd for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, with the previous-gen and Nintendo Switch versions coming later. The first DLC, Deadpool, arrives in early 2023.
