With less than four weeks before launch, Marvel’s Wolverine has gone gold. The title will be sent for certification on the PlayStation Store (because it’s a console exclusive), but it will also receive a proper physical version with a disc at launch.
Though Insomniac recommends the day-one patch for the absolute best performance, it confirmed that it’s fully playable on day one without it. Of course, you’ll need to download any future patches and potential content additions when they release, but we appreciate the sentiment.
As for post-launch plans, the developer hasn’t revealed anything. Several features, like New Game Plus and 60 FPS with ray tracing on Performance Mode for base PS5, are available on day one, which is a pretty big leap forward considering these were added later to the Spider-Man series.
Marvel’s Wolverine launches on September 15th for PS5. Rather than an origin story, the plot revolves around Logan saving mutants from Bolivar Trask, working alongside Sabertooth and Mystique from the Team X days. Jean Grey is also along for the ride, and Nathaniel Essex, who would become Mister Sinister in the comics, plays an important role.
While it’s a linear action-adventure, Insomniac promises plenty of optional content, including Nightmare Doors with time-based challenges. You can also collect new suits for Wolverine, though at least five are locked behind the Digital Deluxe Edition.
