In a particular mission, Venom Snake is tasked with rescuing a child soldier named Shabani. This involves tons of sneaking in a medical facility that reveals the extent of Skull Face’s experiments using the vocal cord parasites. Shabani is infected when Snake finally discovers him and there are a ton of other prisoners who have been experimented on, including one that Skull Face executes in front of Snake.
Children in The Phantom Pain are involved in seemingly the worst scenarios. Tretij Rebenok worked for the XOF and was attuned to the emotions of those around him, serving as a conduit for chaos and destruction in many scenarios. Eli, who becomes Liquid Snake, was a clone and abandoned by his father Big Boss. Child soldiers are used all throughout to fight wars. But the experimentation on children using the parasites to turn them into weapons just proved once again that Kojima wasn’t above showcasing the brutal realities of war for all walks of life.
