As long-winding as the Xbox @ Gamescom broadcasts have been, Day 2 ended with the launch trailer for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. Several iconic characters, from heroes to villains and everyone else in between, appear, alongside some more famous moments. Spoilers, obviously, but for long-time fans, it’s great to see them all in the remade visuals.
Launching on August 28th for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a ground-up remake of 2004’s Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. It sees Naked Snake on a mission to stop a powerful weapon from falling into the Soviet Union’s hands. As a prequel to the mainline series, mainstays like the radar are gone, replaced with more sandbox-like levels, a camouflage system, and much more.
The remake retains the story while introducing several new mechanics, including a new Modern over-the-shoulder perspective. It also adds a compass for easier navigation, Quick Dial for codec conversations, and much more. Check out our feature for all the changes. Fox Hunt, the new multiplayer mode, is still to come this Fall, but sadly, it won’t support cross-play.
