Reviews for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater are finally live, and one of the biggest surprises is Guy Savage (also known as Snake’s Nightmare). An Easter egg mode in the original PS2 version, directed by Shuyo Murata, it was excluded from subsequent ports and releases. Perhaps even more intriguing is that the remade version is developed by PlatinumGames, as confirmed by Konami to GameSpot.

Guy Savage is accessed by saving while trapped in prison and quitting out of the game. Load back in and you’re suddenly transported to a dark fantasy world as a hooded individual with dual blades, fighting monsters. Unlike the base game, this is a fast-paced hack-and-slash sequence, which sounds about right for Platinum (which is also working on the upcoming Ninja Gaiden 4).

It’s even more fitting considering the developer worked on Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance back in 2013. Potential for a remaster or remake down the line? One could certainly hope.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater launches on August 28th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Check out our review.
