If there’s one thing we’ll remember about Microsoft for this year, it’s the numerous acquisitions of third-party studios into their first party portfolio. From Playground Games and Ninja Theory to Obsidian Entertainment and inXile Entertainment, the Xbox One manufacturer has been looking to bolster its exclusives line up for the future. However, it seems they may not be done just yet.

Known insider Klobrille on Twitter, who confirmed that Microsoft was acquiring Obsidian before X018 took place, revealed just a couple days back that Microsoft wasn’t done with new studios acquisitions, and has now dropped another little interesting bit about which studio they’re in talks with.

“I can say that Xbox is in advanced talks (a few months) with a mid-sized studio that historically worked together with PlayStation a bit,” said Klobrille. “No name dropping because of ongoing negotiations for now, but it’s interesting nonetheless.” Further down, the user denied that the studio was Insomniac Games, which recently released Spider-Man for the PS4 and has developed the Ratchet and Clank series in the past.

It’s also worth noting that Microsoft is currently “in advanced talks” with the studio in question. Whether that means another acquisition is on the horizon, or maybe a ways off from now remains to be seen. Otherwise, your guess is as good as ours when it comes to the studio’s identity. Take everything with a healthy bit of skepticism as usual though.
