Microsoft Might be Planning an Xbox Event for Q1 2023 – Rumour

Amidst widespread disappointment at Microsoft's lack of reveals at The Game Awards, it seems the company might be gearing up for an event in the coming months.

Microsoft had a largely disappointing 2022, with the year having seen next to no major new first party Xbox releases. The fact that the company had practically nothing to show at the recent The Game Awards has only added to the disappointment, especially given the fact that the likes of Forza Motorsport, Redfall, and Starfield are all due out in 2023.

It seems, however, that we might be seeing something from Xbox in the not-too-distant future. In an article published on Windows Central, journalist Jez Corden claims to have heard “tentative” and “unverifiable” rumours that Microsoft is planning an event in Q1 of 2023, which will allegedly be similar in nature to previous X0 events (the last of which happened before the pandemic in 2019), and could feature new announcements and updates on upcoming titles.

Recently, Xbox exec Aaron Greenberg said amidst widespread disappointment over Microsoft’s no-show at The Game Awards that the company had “a lot planned to show and share about an incredibly exciting year ahead for 2023″, and that fans wouldn’t have to “wait too long” to get more details on that front. Read more on that through here.

Given the fact that Forza Motorsport, Redfall, and Starfield are all currently scheduled to launch in the first half of 2023, one would imagine that Microsoft will want to properly kick marketing for all three titles into gear in the coming weeks and months. Meanwhile, other upcoming Xbox titles like Perfect Dark, Fableand Avowed have also not seen any updates in quite some time, and fans will surely be hoping to hear more about them in some capacity.

Either way, it does seem like Microsoft will have more to say about Xbox’s immediate future one way or another soon enough, so stay tuned for all the updates.
