Celebrating the release of PvPvE extraction RPG Mistfall Hunter, developer Bellring Games has released a new trailer with an emphasis on the title’s cinematic qualities. The trailer, which you can check out below, clocks in at 2 and a half minutes in length, and gives us a look at the shattered world of Weavereach.
Rather than focusing on the gameplay of Mistfall Hunter, the trailer instead focuses largely on the world and its various inhabitants that have been corrupted by the Gyldenmist, as well as the Gyldhunters that serve as players’ characters. Matching the title’s dark fantasy vibes are the epic boss designs that feature a balance of regal and elegant styles with something dark and sinister hiding under the surface.
The trailer also showcases a more cinematic take on the action RPG’s PvP battles, with each Gyldhunter’s abilities being on full display, from the Shadowstrix’s smoke bombs to the Sorcerer’s fiery spells, and the bow and arrow proficiency of the Blackarrow. As the fight wraps up with only the Shadowstrix and his allies left standing, a bell is then rung to begin the extraction sequence. However, this sequence is short-lived, with the character getting attacked by a horde of enemies swarming in.
This is the second trailer released for Mistfall Hunter just this week, with one having recently come out that showcases some of its gameplay as the studio gets ready to launch the game across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. The trailer offered a short bit of narration to set the stage of a world having been ravaged by the Gyldenmist, and how Gyldhunters were the only ones brave enough to venture out into the devastation to procure valuable artifacts.
While much of the gameplay in Mistfall Hunter will revolve around hack-and-slash gameplay bolstered by skills and abilities of your chosen class, players will also have to be careful of other squads roaming around that might be hostile in their own right. Interactions between various groups of players can range from them trying to avoid each other, to one of them setting up an ambush for the other, or even just all-out battle.
Mistfall Hunter also sets itself apart from its contemporaries in the extraction genre by having a unique twist on how players return to base. Rather than simply finding a way out, players will have to ring a bell to open up a portal back home. However, the sound of the bell has the potential to attract not only nearby AI-controlled enemies, but human ones as well. Those who want to avoid using the bell may even find unique ways to exit the map if they explore thoroughly enough.
While it primarily focuses on tense PvPvE gameplay, Bellring Games has also revealed to us in an interview that a PvE mode is on its roadmap for Mistfall Hunter. However, the team is currently busy with the launch and maintenance of its multiplayer infrastructure, which means that it can’t really commit to a release date for such a mode just yet. However, the fact that feedback has indicated that there is interest in a PvE mode should be good news for players who prefer co-op experiences rather than competitive ones.
