A bit of a troll took place today at Square Enix’s Automata Fan Festival, with the development team seemingly teasing a new NieR announcement…only to reveal that NieR: Automata sold over seven million units. Square Enix later confirmed that the title had exceeded seven million in worldwide shipments and digital sales.
It also provided updated sales numbers for NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139… The version upgrade of Nier Replicant, the Japanese version of 2010 action RPG Nier, has crossed 1.5 million total shipments and digital sales worldwide. The last sales milestone was one million shipments and digital sales in June 2021, roughly two months after it launched worldwide.
Overall, not bad, especially since series creator Yoko Taro didn’t think it would sell very well. Developed by Toylogic, NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139… is available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. You can check out our official review here. As for the next entry in the series, the wait continues.
