It looks like recent reports of Nintendo preparing to make new announcements in February might be accurate. The Japanese company has traditionally held Nintendo Direct presentations in the February of each of year, with the COVID-enforced exception of 2020, and will hold one this year as well.
Taking to Twitter, Nintendo announced a Nintendo Direct livestream for tomorrow, February 9, at 2 PM PT. The presentation will be “roughly 40 minutes” long and will be “mainly focused on Nintendo Switch games launching in the first half of 2022.” That’s standard Direct announcement language for Nintendo, and isn’t always strictly true, so don’t be surprised to learn about multiple games beyond the first half of this year.
As for what might be featured in the presentations, one can make educated guessed. The likes of Triangle Strategy, Bayonetta 3, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, Splatoon 3, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s sequel are all currently scheduled for 2022 releases, so it should be interesting to see which one of those shows up.
Meanwhile, rumours have indicated that Xenoblade Chronicles 3, a remaster of the original Metroid Prime, and a sequel to 1-2-Switch will also be revealed soon, so maybe we’ll be hearing more about one of those. Of course, as always, we’re hoping to see something to do with Hollow Knight: Silksong.
