Since the Switch’s launch in March 2017, Nintendo has been one of the few companies that has consistently been announcing and releasing new games, most of which have been great. And as you would expect, that’s a pattern that’s going to keep up in 2020 as well.
In a recent email sent by Nintendo (via Nintendo Life) taking a general look at the year ahead for the Switch, the Japanese publisher had the following to say: “You can look forward to announcements throughout the year, so keep your eyes peeled for more games joining this list!”
Some new announcements are probably due, given how little we know of what Nintendo has planned for the Switch this year. So far, the only 2020 first party titles we know of are the recently released Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore, the upcoming Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team DX, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition. Meanwhile, third party Switch exclusives such as Deadly Premonition 2, No More Heroes 3, and Bravely Default 2 are also due out this year.
Recently, a leak suggested that Nintendo would be releasing a new 2D Metroid game and a traditional Paper Mario sequel some time this year. When can we expect those announcements though (if they are true, that is)? Speculation suggests that a Nintendo Direct presentation might be on the way in the coming days (or weeks), so keep your eyes peeled.
