Acquire’s Octopath Traveler 2 has received a brand new trailer, which showcases two of the eight protagonists that players can control. These are Partitio, a Merchant who wants to do some good, and Osvald, a Scholar sentenced to life imprisonment for the murders of his wife and daughter.
Partitio’s abilities include purchasing items from townspeople and hiring people to join him. He can also obtain various rewards thanks to Business Partners. Osvald can Scrutinize people for information, and if he fails, his reputation in the town will suffer. It’s also possible to mug them for different items. At the start of a battle, Osvald can use Study Foe to discern an enemy’s weakness.
The trailer also showcases new travel methods like small boats and ships, the latter customizable with different paint jobs and sails. You can also engage in combat while out at sea. There are also Latent Powers, unique to each Traveler, with its gauge filled by taking damage or breaking foes by exploiting their weaknesses. Osvald’s Latent Power, Concentrate Spells, can focus his spells on a single enemy with “greater potency.”
Octopath Traveler 2 launches on February 24th, 2023, for PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch and PC. Stay tuned for more details on the other protagonists in the coming months.
