Game Overview:
Octopath Traveler 2 is a turn-based RPG developed by Acquire and Square Enix, and published by Square Enix.
It is set in a new world and features a new cast of eight playable characters.
To go along with its recent Xbox and Game Pass launch, Square Enix has released a new free update for the acclaimed RPG.
Square Enix has released both RPGs for their respective platforms out of nowhere, as well as a bundle containing both.
Its release could also be joined by the original Octopath Traveler being added to Game Pass as well, it's claimed.
Including Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth director Naoki Hamaguchi, Octopath Traveler producer Tomoya Asano, and others.
The HD-2D role-playing game will also be available for PC via the Microsoft Store. It's out now for PS4, PS5, PC and Nintendo Switch.
Square Enix's sequel is trailing behind the first game, which shipped one million units less than a month after its release.
Square Enix and Acquire's HD-2D RPG is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
Meanwhile, other major new releases like Octopath Traveler 2 and Like a Dragon: Ishin! have also debuted in the top 5.
The HD-2D role-playing game is out on February 24th for PS4, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch, with a free demo currently available.
The demo features all eight protagonists and lets you play for three hours, with progress carrying over to the full game.
Players can fast-forward through event scenes, double the speed of combat encounters, and adjust the speed of automatic text.
Ochette can provoke or befriend townspeople, and use monsters in battle, while Castti concocts items for healing and damage.
The turn-based JRPG is due out for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation consoles, and PC in late February.
New details are also revealed on the RPG's expanded Jobs system, the many guilds found in its world, and more.
"They say each other’s names and their stories cross paths, so it actually feels like these characters are traveling together," explains Masashi Takahashi.
New travel methods, like customizable ships, are also revealed along with Latent Powers, unique moves that build up when taking damage or breaking foes.
Ahead of the turn-based JRPG's launch in February of next year, its developer says the game's production is close to wrapping up.
Square Enix showcased 20 minutes of gameplay for the recently-announced Octopath Traveler 2 during Tokyo Game Show.
Yasunori Nishiki, who composed the music for the original Octopath Traveler and its mobile spinoff, is returning for the sequel.
New gameplay mechanics – including Latent Powers in combat, a day and night cycle, Path actions, and more – have also been detailed.
Octopath Traveler 2 will feature eight br and new characters, and will feature new mechanics that will affect each character's path.
"The development team will work hard so that we can set off on a new adventure with you all," writes Square Enix.
Tomoya Asano hopes you'll enjoy Bravely Default 2 in the meantime.
I’m sure that comes as a shock to most of you.
