OD

Kojima Productions and Xbox Game Studios finally revealed their upcoming game OD at The Game Awards. Very few details are known, save for eagle-eyed fans discovering letters seemingly referencing Silent Hills in the actors’ mouths from the trailer. There’s also no gameplay, but some trademarks by the developer could provide further hints to the horror title’s mechanics.

Two trademarks have been filled for the game’s name, but there’s also one for Social Scream System and another for Social Stealth. The former may be new technology, with the logo “SSS” spotted at the end of the reveal trailer. Since OD is a cloud-native title, it could leverage the architecture for some new multiplayer experience.

It wouldn’t be the first innovative use of multiplayer by the studio. Death Stranding uses asynchronous multiplayer to allow players to see each others’ creations in their worlds while also picking up lost belongings and contributing to community projects. Time will tell if OD takes a similar approach, so stay tuned for further updates.
