Onimusha Way of the Sword

Resident Evil Requiem is a hit, Pragmata’s release date has been moved up, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword…exists, as far as Capcom is concerned. The publisher’s latest Spotlight showcase offers a new overview trailer for the dark fantasy hack-and-slash action-adventure, detailing everything from the setting and premise to the combat.

It even teased that players would learn more about the strange tales and mysteries of Kyoto, and how strands of hidden legends are woven throughout the story. As you’ve probably guessed, however, there’s no release date, not even a release window. At least it’s still on track for this year on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, though.

And there’s no denying that it still looks good, especially when Musashi parries hits from massive Genma. Being able to take advantage of your environment, like pushing an enemy into a clothesline and seeing its head covered as it haphazardly lashes out, also looks like great fun. It’s just that there’s no shortage of great gameplay at this point, whether it’s a fight against Ganryu or an early mission walkthrough.

Stay tuned for further updates on Onimusha: Way of the Sword, and head here to learn more about why Capcom went with Musashi as the protagonist. For those expecting cameos from previous titles, it already confirmed that despite featuring “elements that pay homage,” there won’t be any returning characters.
