Path of Exile PS4 Pro Will Have Global Illumination Enabled, Won’t Run At 4K/60 FPS

Path of Exile's upcoming PS4 release will be looking to leverage the PS4 Pro's enhanced capabilities.

Path of Exile is one of the best looter action-RPGs around right now, and the fact that it’s free-to-play makes it an even more compelling package, so PS4 owners must obviously be quite excited about its upcoming release. Recently, we sent across a few of our questions about the looming launch to Chris Wilson, co-founder of developers Grinding Gear Games, and one of the things we asked him was if Path of Exile would feature any PS4 Pro enhancements.

When asked about 4K/60 FPS being enabled on the PS4 Pro, Wilson told us that that wouldn’t be the case- that said, the game will still leverage some of the system’s enhanced capabilities, with global illumination tech being enabled. “Our global Illumination tech (where all objects can indirectly light other objects around them according to their colour) is enabled for PS4 Pro users,” Wilson told GamingBolt.

As for how the game runs on the base PS4, Wilson told us that it would run at a frame rate of 60 FPS, which would imply that the same will also be the case on the PS4 Pro, only not at a 4K resolution.

Path of Exile was slated to launch on the PS4 in December, but was recently delayed to February of next year. Meanwhile, PC and Xbox One owners will soon be getting access to a meaty new update. Read more on that through here. Our full interview with Wilson will be going live soon, so stay tuned.
