PlatinumGames announced quite recently that the fourth and final announcement of their Platinum 4 initiative would be made on April 1st, and it should come as no surprise to anyone that it turned out to be a joke announcement for April Fool’s Day. It seems we’re going to have to wait for the real thing a while longer.

The joke announcement is essentially a video announcing “a shocking docking new collaboration” with Hamster for a new arcade machine called Sol Cresta, which plays old-school, retro-themed shoot ’em ups. Let us know is you get what the joke here is supposed to be.

PlatinumGames have been hyping up their fourth and final Platinum 4 announcement for a while now, so one would hope that the real deal is till coming- just not today. So far, their previous three announcements have been The Wonderful 101: Remastered, Hideki Kamiya’s Project G.G.and a new studio. Here’s hoping they can end on an equally strong note (and that this specific video isn’t the actual end).
