Sony has announced on the PlayStation Blog that it will be hosting an open weekend for its PlayStation Plus service on the PS4, allowing players to use the service for free. This only extends to multiplayer gaming so if you haven’t had a chance to take a crack at Destiny’s competitive Crucible missions, you’re in luck.

The open weekend begins on September 26th at 8.00 AM BST/9.00 AM CET/11:59 PM/12:01 AM PST and will conclude on September 28th at 11:59 PM PST. That means September 29th, 9.00 AM BST/10.00 AM CET. In case you’re wondering, you won’t be able to take advantage of other perks like discounts and such. The main goal of the open weekend seems to be for encouraging those who aren’t already into competitive multiplayer on the PS4 to give it a shot. That could be the reason why free PS Plus won’t be available on the PS3.

Will you be taking part? Let us know below.
