PS4 Exclusive Days Gone Receives Breathtaking New Screenshots

The calm before the storm in Deacon St. John's life.

In all the pre-release coverage for the upcoming PS4 exclusive Days Gone so far, we’ve learned plenty about its harsh post-apocalyptic zombie-infested world, but we haven’t heard much about what happened before things went south. A new batch of screenshots from the game released by Sony gives us a glimpse of exactly that.

Paired with an RSVP for the wedding of protagonist Deacon St. John and his wife-to-be Sarah Whitaker, the images (which you can view in the gallery below) give us a look at the two of them looking forward to happy days- obviously we know things don’t pan out that way. The images below are most likely right before the freaker epidemic ravages the world. They’re looking pretty good, and give us a good idea of what to expect from the game in terms of visual fidelity. Check them out below.

The screenshots are also accompanied by some details on the two characters in question: “Deacon St. John and Sarah Whitaker were an unlikely couple: He was from rural Oregon, a member of an outlaw motorcycle club; she was from Seattle, a botanist with a degree in biochemistry. But from the moment they met, on the back roads of Farewell Oregon, they were inseparable. Now they’re ready to ride off into the sunset and face the next chapter of life together as man and wife.”

Days Gone releases on April 26 for the PS4. It recently got a new trailer detailing the several types of freakers you’ll be going up against in the game, and another one that talked about the dangers of traversing its open world. Check them both out through the links.
