PS4 Release Date To be After Xbox One, Retailer Toys R Us Claims

Is there really a two week difference in the release dates?

United States retail chain Toys R Us, the Xbox One is estimated to be releasing on November 29th while the PlayStation 4 is set to release on December 13th, which is about 12 days before Christmas. We’re tempted to create a version of “12 Days of Christmas” involving video game references, but we digress.

Neither of these release dates has been confirmed by either Sony or Microsoft. The latter’s stance has always been that the Xbox One would release in November, while the former has used the “Holiday 2013” release date since first being unveiled.

As of this writing, the Toys R Us listings for both consoles now state “Estimated Ship date: 11/30/2013” for their release, so it’s possible that the retail site revealed something it shouldn’t have. Can we indeed look forward to the PlayStation 4 two weeks after the release of the Xbox One? We’ll have to wait and find out at Gamescom, where Sony is rumoured to be revealing the PS4’s release date.
