RAGE 2 Factions Are Full of Terrible But Awesome People

"You can’t help but kind of like them," says art director Jeremy Miller.

RAGE 2 is promising to be largely different from its predecessor. Where the 2010 title was dominated by hues of brown and, uh, darker brown, the upcoming sequel looks vast, varied, and full of colour and personality. That, of course, extends to people that inhabit the game’s post-apocalyptic world as well.

Recently, as part of their month-long coverage on RAGE 2, Game Informer put up an article in which they revealed new details about the factions that will be included in the game. According to art director Jeremy Miller, each of the factions in the game will be full of terrible but awesome people who will keep on doing horrific things, but you won’t be able to help but somewhat like them.

“Each faction is full of terrible people,” he said. “But they’re also awesome. You can’t help but kind of like them.”

Miller explained that a large part of RAGE 2’s world is that is has to be “fun”- even if it’s crazy and dreary, it has to have an element of fun and wackiness to it.

“One of our key pillars is this is about fun, and that is a huge element of crazy, but if the crazy we create is just depressing and not fun, then it’s not for Rage,” said Miller. “It always has to have the horrific quality of, ‘This is so awful! Why would they do this? But I can’t help but kind of like them.’ That’s the sweet spot for us.”

RAGE 2 launches for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on May 14. Recent rumours suggest that on PC, it may launch as a Bethesda Launcher exclusive, with no Steam support. Read more on that through here.
