While standard missions across the Rainbow Six Extraction’s four locations will suffice for new players, there’s also some end-game content to be had. In a new deep dive video, Ubisoft has outlined Maelstrom Protocol, a mode that sees players tackling nine objectives in a row with the difficulty slowly escalating over time.

Along with having only a select number of Operators to choose from, the mode will start limiting one’s resources like ammo boxes the further they delve. Of course, tons of Archaean foes can also be expected so bringing your highest-level Operators is a must. It’s worth noting that the Maelstrom Protocol changes on a weekly basis. This allows for perfecting one’s run over a week while looking forward to a fresh challenge the next week.

The more objectives completed in a single run, the more XP accrued by Operators. However, players can also unlock seasonal cosmetics to show off their status. Rainbow Six Extraction is out on January 20th for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, PC and Google Stadia. It will also launch day one on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass.
