While voice actor Rob Wiethoff had recently teased some announcement from Rockstar Games regarding Red Dead Redemption 2, along with getting corroboration from fellow voice actor Roger Clark, Rockstar is yet to make any announcement. Now, in a recent livestream, Wiethoff has said that he doesn’t have the authority to make any announcements on Rockstar’s behalf. “I do not make announcements for Rockstar Games,” he said.

“I do have something I’m really excited about, I truly am, and I think you will be too,” he said, continuing that he realised that he might have “possibly misled some people when I announced that I have something to announce that I can’t talk about right now.”

“Just please recognize – and I know that you know this, but let me remind you, I guess – I do not make announcements for Rockstar Games. We all know that, I’m just reminding you I do not make announcements for Rockstar Games. Rockstar Games makes announcements for Rockstar Games, and they don’t use me to do that,” he continued. “So please know that, and again I still think that a lot of you are going to be really excited about this news, absolutely.”

Wiethoff is known for his role as John Marston in Red Dead Redemption 2, while Clark is known for his work as Arthur Morgan. The announcement that both of have them had been teasing likely has to do with rumours surrounding a PS5 and Xbox Series X/S upgrade for Red Dead Redemption 2, as well as a rumoured Switch 2 port. Just earlier this week, Wiethoff had said that there was going to be some sort of official announcement “definitely before Friday”.

Red Dead Redemption 2 was originally released on PS4 and Xbox One all the way back in 2018, and eventually made its way on to PC in 2019. The title has proven itself to be incredibly successful since its release, with Rockstar Games revealing that, as of May this year, more than 74 million copies of the game had been sold. The success of Red Dead Redemption 2 has also helped push cumulative sales of the Red Dead franchise to over 100 million copies.

Rumours surrounding Red Dead Redemption 2 potentially getting upgraded to take advantage of the hardware on the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S have been going around for quite some time now. According to a report from earlier this month, the open-world game is expected to be announced as coming to the Switch 2 soon, alongside getting modern console upgrades.

While no details about the ports have been revealed as of yet, rumours indicate that Rockstar Games might be targeting a September/October release window for the newer versions of the title.

Currently, while the console versions of Red Dead Redemption 2 are considered quite impressive, especially for the hardware that the title runs on, the PC version is considered to be the best release of the game in terms of visual fidelity and other options that players can play around with.
